10 years of secretsundaze

v.a. – 10 years of secretsundaze [secretsundaze]

v.a. – 10 years of secretsundaze [secretsundaze]

it’s no secret that the run of 7+ years has changed daytime parties all around the globe. we can thank secretsundaze for this feat. garnering a rep as one of the most innovative, exciting and fun circuits to be seen at, not too mention the most eclectic, hedonistic and live bunch of  heads that span several electronic genres;  from house to tech, broken beat to deep chill out eclectic grooves.

this compilation gives 27 tracks that aid in the foundation of sonic brick and mortar, which assisted the rise of the house we call “secretsundaze”.  there is no shortage of exquisite gems from indies and heavyweight alumnus that we all have grown attached too over the last decade.  giles smith, recloose, specter, marshall jefferson, salt city orchestra and east west connection are just a few of the beloveds gracing this compilation.  you will find no disappointments here.  every track is hand picked and ready to consume…as if that wasn’t enough, they include 2 bonus dj mixes, compliments of giles smith and james priestley. 2 more hours of non-stop sunshine.  enjoy the road that this crew of royalty has paved, there is enough for everyone and something for all. not too be missed.

well, snow season is over. i can shed those winter pounds and be free for the plight of the sun is among us and i feel free…

just checking in. i am back in action with the production. as we speak, i am mastering the debut LP for CJ Burken. his lp is called “My Third I” and it is completely ovah the realm of fabulous! i love the whole project. he worked his ass off to bring the world a complete work of art and i want to make sure it arrives on a beautiful canvas and a sterling frame! i co-wrote 2 songs via writing lyrics. the first track is called “move on saturday”, vocals are done by denvil saine. remember him from the single “let go” on Harlem Station. i sang on the deep track “startanu my friend”. it is the last song in his masterpiece production. you will be sure to enjoy it when it releases. right now you can hear a track from the lp, while i work. http://soundcloud.com/cj-burken/cj-burken-salvation-eye

i also just signed on to penn lyrics for a song by Nitewerx, it’s called “say, i don’t care”. just sealed that this morn. so i will get to work on it in between breaks from “i”. here is the demo. i am rewriting new lyrics, as the one there is not for use.  i will definitely turn it…http://soundcloud.com/nitewerx/you-say-i-dont-care-nitewerx

SOME THINGS TO CHECK OUT IN YOUR LOCAL RETAILERS…

good riddance 2010 – hello redance 2011

now i don’t normally come to blog-a-bitch, but i am just sayin not my finest growth spurt period….2010, lata! aye yay yay! i hate to say it but, 2010 could be gone yesterday and it would be not a second too soon…i had a not so stellar personal year…way too many things. and sometimes too much of not enough!  i am adjusting to 40 and wasn’t gripping reality too tight about its obvious truths!  however, it panned itself past and i lost the initial sneak attack. but i bounced back for the 13th round at the 11th hour and can say, i didn’t get k.o’d. but i did get blown back a bit and got counted out of the ring!  however, i centered myself, dusted of my leather boots and proceeded to stomp into a new era.  i still can rock a house. but roll a stone….i’m not sure!

now i am back to sane and stable, not kane and able…

Now the good news is, i saved a lot on my car insurance….

on to the upside of the down 10!

I can truly say, professionally, i was ok in that department.  there was some cool shit goin down that i got my hands dirty with.  lets accentuate the positive with recap, shall we?

i ended the year finishing a kickass remix for quentin harris’ “paradise” single. it should be coming up in the next few singles from his fantabulous album “sacrifice”.

i also did a cool mix for Ben Sharkey’s single “actually” on Detox

i just finished mastering and some production work on the LP “Sticky/foreplay” by La Veda on my label Harlem Station Recordings.

i penned the song “grocery store” for her and the project. i do quite enjoy the song, it’s one of my favorite songs i’ve written as of late. check it out.

speaking of la veda.  she will be everywhere in 2011. she wrote lyrics for a song to go on my lp, “no vacancy“. it was called “gotta get to you” unfortunately, i wasn’t able to finish the music in time for the lp, so i put it on backburner for another project (her lp). well before i could blink, CJ Burken pulled it out of the vault and made a supreme track around it – recreating it into a deep 111 bpm masterpiece…i am so glad i was not able to do this song…justice was served by the man himself! this will be out on jan. 11, 2011

speaking of CJ Burken, i wrote a song for his upcoming LP, tentatively titled “my third eye”. the song is called “startanu my friend”. he revamped his hit song “startanu” into a downtempo reggae styled moodswing. the instrumental is on the 2nd part of the startanu release. titled startanu (cj burkens nu nu mix) from harlem station recordings.  his lp will be blazing the world in spring 2011. startanu was one of my favorite songs of 201o, and guess what? i did a mix to that too called the undah-dub empathy mix – i love it, it rocked me – and according to sales, many other kind folk too!!!

other mixes included, Lee Bradley – rhythmship and Fuckin DJ’s – Kuntunpau on Decibel NYC. get it at beatport.com

i just released a dj mix cd for Decibel NYC called “we are decibel nyc 2″ and it follows the first one from 2008 also

also my LP “No Vacancy” is still available in everystore! digitally or cd

so overall, 2010 was musically good for me. got some things out, butlooking forward to a wonderful 2011. full of inner peace, love, prosperity and journey to continue creating thyself for thy people!

look out for the new smear.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

return from…

well it has already been one wild ride for the year.  i haven’t been online blogging for a bit, but that doesn’t mean i haven’t been busy!!
i just had my 39th birthday in february and with this new year came a lot of changes in my life.  the most important is that i am dedicating more time and effort into my studio and production career, and less road traveling.
i have been finding myself writing a lot of songs for people as of late and i am quite enjoying it. right now songwriting and artist developement is my passion.
i have most recently written a song for the upcoming La Veda lp. the song is called “grocery store”. as well i am mastering and producing a few things for that project. i think you will dig it, its smooth a little eclectic and jazzy.
i also am writing a few songs for cj burken’s upcoming lp.  notably i wrote a vocal to his end song “startanu”. looking forward too that outcome.
also in production is my alter lp project from Don Davenport. i think the lp will be called “Meatball Sandwich”. Since “strut” came out a few years ago, i have been toying with that sound and voice(s). originally it was to represent the singer that i’m not, it’s becoming a staple in my alter lunchbox. saying a lot of things i would love to say myself but gutless to present it in public….at any rate i have been having an interesting run with that guise and i am going to go with it. currently in production is a quirky single called “sucker punch”. will have something for you to preview soon.
right now i have a few new singles, tracks and remixes for consumption and retail!  i want to share these links with you, with a big push to tell help me pay the rent by downloading a song, track and/or a remix!
some new additions to the catalog are giving more sunshine to your spring!
the latest single “like sex”
it’s the second single from my lp “no vacancy” and i am quite proud as to how well the project is doing.
the undah-dub ft. digable 7 - like sexthe undah-dub - no vacancy

-my remix of lee bradley – rhythmship is still ablaze and if you don’t have it, you need to jump on the tribal train.lee bradley - rhythmship
out as of today is my remix of cj burken – startanurelease. this mix sounds different than everyones and i dig it. it sounds simple but it was pretty complex to throw together. but it rocks massively on the floor! it’s in super good company also. including Fuze, Gaty Lopez and Lou Peoples.cj burken - startanu (vol 1.)
my remix of  Kylie – Slow is available and FREE to download the MP3. You can get it right here at soundcloud idc vs kylie – (not so) slow – sign up and be a follower too!idc vs kylie - (not so) slow

Slinky Secrets Revealed…

O U T  N O W ! !

decny034-smldecny034

the undah-dub feat. grier

slinky secrets

decibel nyc recordings

the dynamic duo of undah-dub and super voice grier are at it again!  this time it’s a funky junky called “slinky secrets”.  imagine that beautiful piece in the club that you know has got the goods. but smoke, mirrors and beauty keep their dirty side at bay just to save face…this is the song to rebel on those types!  ”…the dirty ones you think are, too hot and moist and pinky for slinky secrets!” that should say it all. i guess it’s literally asking those tricks to unlock that vault and let us in, cuz we might have to take it by force.  undah-dub pops off one of his funkiest and quirkiest numbers yet, with a steller electro type remix that completely seals the power of this song in a new compact form. fit for radio or clubs, this vocal driven gem will drive everyone crazy.  CJ Burken ducks his head out of the lab to serve us, “the people remixes”.  the vocal mix is a deep and abstract journey into radio space. this is a vintage journey from the master himself, you do not want to miss. And for the boys in the big room, you might want to check out Noxxers twisted version.  he beefs up the soundtrack with a pumpin drum kick, crazy bass line and a lot of moaning….perfect for that 3 a.m. light show.  trust with any of these mixes there will be no wrong turns here tonight. gets to goin!

remixes and such…

well since the release of the lp “no vacancy” i have been trying to take a breather to enjoy the fruits…

however duty still calls and i have been up to my neck in work.  i have just completed my remix for the next single “slinky secrets” featuring grier. this remix pack will be hot. it has a dj noxxer mix and cj burken remix (look what the cat…)

here is a sample of my live remix for slinky secrets. (click on link->)  slinky-secrets-remix-sample

decny034-sml

also i have finished my remix of denvil’s “let go” it’s called undah-dub’s fighting mix and it’s dark and hot!  i like this a lot because every other mix is garage and up. mine goes dark and in your face.  this will be released on the remix pack of let go on harlem station recordings. it also features lou peoples remixes.

here is a sample of the mix (click link for sample->)  let-go-undah-dubs-fightin-remix-sample

now, i am working on Miss Pats – “possession”. this is the first single from Breezes E.O.E. Productions imprint. this is coming. i haven’t found the groove that i want, so i keep trying, my deadline is soon.

other deadline is A.D. Cruze’s “House Music” on digital vinyl recordings. i am also stumped on this one. it has so many great remixes, that i still haven’t found what i want to do with it, so stay tuned for that one also.

other than that its biz as usual at harlem station. trying to bring you as much aural excitement as possible. so i will be back atcha…
